Renee Haskell

Preschool lead teacher

Welcome to Whatcom Family Cooperative Preschool!  My name is Renee Haskell and I teach the morning and afternoon cooperative classes.   I have been working in the field of Early Childhood Education for twenty-five years. I graduated from Whatcom Community College in 1995 with a degree in Early Childhood Education, an Educational Paraprofessional Degree, and a Certificate in Early Childhood Education.

I worked through college and beyond at the Whatcom Community College Child Development Center as an assistant for the preschool and toddler teachers.  Shortly after I finished my work at WCC, I spent time as the Toddler Specialist for the GRADS program through the Nooksack Valley School District.  I operated my own home-based licensed toddler and preschool program for nine years and most recently was a lead preschool teacher at Whatcom Day Academy.  I have also raised two boys of my own who are now a Freshman in college and a Junior in high school.  Children and families are my passion!  I continue to enjoy growing as an educator by attending early childhood conferences and taking online classes.

I strongly believe that parents are a child’s first teacher.  I am here to help extend all of the wonderful support you have given your children at home to help them get this far.  I believe all children have the capacity to be strong learners, compassionate humans, and positive contributors to society.  My goal is to support children at school as they navigate through the incredible journey of social-emotional growth, self-awareness, and academic discovery.  I welcome classroom visits and look forward to meeting your family soon!
